it is not common but also not that uncommon. When owners are producers, a lot of times it has to do with building relationships rather than gaining Broadway tenants. The Nederlanders are obviously smaller, and their mix skews in a direction that does not work for smaller plays. I don't see this as a "competitive" situation. Right now I would not focus on "unclaimed" because I expect some "claimed" ones to become available over the next months.
Much less common, btw, is for all three landlords to be on the same show. The last one I recall was King Kong which tells you something about the acuity of the skills of prognostication. |
