I know you noted you'd seen the live show. I did not. I've only seen the Hulu recording.

I posted about my experience of watching it on Hulu recently and was roundly chastised for my insensitivity and for not 'getting' it. I certainly 'got' what he was going for; I understood the themes of identity, of being seen for the multi-faceted person you are or want to be. I understand WHY that would be moving. I can understand HOW it would have been moving for the audience in that intimate theatre at the time. I just didn't find DelGaudio's presentation of those themes moving. That ending with the audience felt like something one might have seen on Oprah's talk show back in the day. It just all felt very surface level to me. Instagram-post-worthy wisdom in the form of an illusionist's one-man-show.

But, he very clearly cast a spell over those audiences and over many (most?) of you, so clearly I'm in the minority.
