(SPOILERS)
I think I'm also in the minority on this show, but for a different reason. I saw the show live and watched bits of the Hulu version. At one point in my life, I was very into magic. DelGaudio is an incredible illusionist. I have no idea how he did most of his tricks. I just wish he had done more of them. There are only 6 or 7 full tricks in the show. I wish there had been more magic and less narrative, although I realize that's not the show he wanted to do.
In terms of guessing the audience's cards, there were about 150 people in the audience, so the trick took a while. Most people picked very factual cards ("I am a New Yorker" or "I am an architect"), and he did most of them pretty quickly, but for the more emotional cards, DelGaudio stares intently into your eyes for a while before he says anything, while you are thinking about what you picked and staring back into the eyes of someone who knows what you wrote. I can see why the guy who picked "I am nobody" and others got teary-eyed. |
