I know a number of performers who have worked in BOOK OF MORMON both on Broadway and on the national tour.
One of the biggest observations they shared with me: the urbane, decidedly liberal and savvy audiences from the first year of the run are quite different from various houses at theaters around the USA and those who have seen the NYC company in recent years. Simply put, some Americans understand satire far more than others.
God, we're dumb.
