Maybe she was firing on all cylinders because it was a special occasion. Maybe it's a combination of these things and more. Whatever the case may be, I would rank her in my top five Sallys. I thought she had the raw vulnerability of Jennifer Jason Leigh and Michele Williams without losing any of the sexy sultriness of Mary McCormack. (The accident at the Henry Miller prevented me from seeing Natasha Richardson whom, I've heard, combined these qualities better than anyone.) Miller's was a Sally whom I could understand Cliff being taken in by, at he initially must be, and whom I believed was as self-destructive as the text and especially the Mendes/Marshall productive paints her to be. |
