For the record, the Globes didn't completely ignore ''Hamilton.'' They nominated it for Best Musical or Comedy. And Lin-Manuel Miranda was nominated for Actor in a Musical or Comedy. But ''Hamilton'' lost both categories to ''Borat Subsequent Moviefilm'' and its star, Sacha Baron Cohen.
Also, Leslie Odom Jr., who wasn't nominated for Disney+'s ''Hamilton,'' was a double Golden Globe nominee for ''One Night in Miami.''
He was up for playing Sam Cooke as Supporting Actor and he co-wrote the film's song, ''Speak Now,'' but lost both of his bids.
Elsewhere, the late Chadwick Boseman won Actor in a Drama for the Netflix adaptation of August Wilson's ''Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.''
However, Boseman's co-star, Viola Davis, lost Actress in a Drama in a disappointing night for film adaptations of plays and musicals.
Besides ''Hamilton's'' loss, ''The Prom'' went home empty-handed, and ditto for ''The Father'' and ''One Night in Miami.'' |
