I thought Mormon was an hilarious, sweet and harmless show

However, when I was a kid I thought the annual PTA minstrel show (blackface and all) done in our all-white community to great enthusiasm was hilarious, sweet and harmless. But they stopped doing it.

I also thought that the first first times I saw Annie Get Your Gun that "I'm An Indian, Too" was hilarious, sweet and harmless. (Note the clips below of Merman doing part of the number on film.) But they cut that number for the most recent Broadway production -- along with "I'm a Bad, Bad Man," which I previously also thought was hilarious, sweet and harmless. (That number is clearly satiric. But it was cut. Although now maybe Andrew Cuomo could adopt it as a campaign theme song.)

But I guess things that seem so hilarious, sweet and harmless seem less so to others or are perceived differently at different times.
