| Ah! I started watching late and was "chasing" the show and skipping over commercials. I now realize that I somehow skipped right over Jane Fonda's wonderful speech (just watched on youtube). So when I heard the shoutout to Tommy it was completely out of context. This reminded me of when I saw Deathtrap in Boston pre-Broadway and the actress playing Helga dropped her lines setting up that she was going to be on Merv Griffin. As she exited, she did remember to turn around and say, "Don't forget to watch Merv Griffin!" Complete non sequitur without the setup and at the time I thought the funniest line I'd ever heard. |
