| It's exciting, and a good sign for Broadway, that the two front runners are written by BIPOC playwrights (and that they both have a real chance of winning, since "Lehman Trilogy" was likely going to be the favorite of the season), but I don't think it's going to be a close contest. "Slave Play" was the talk of the season, while "The Inheritance" left a lot of people cold. I liked it, and I would vote for it over "Slave Play", but I've written here before that this board responded to "The Inheritance" much more favorably than the general theater audience did. Add into this that Jeremy is using his Broadway money and fame to support other playwrights, and I just think that's the obvious winner. |
