| Fifty years ago (March 6, 1971) Producer Alexander Cohen pulled the plug on his troubled Pre-Broadway tryout of PRETTYBELLE at Boston’s Shubert Theatre. The musical, written by Bob Merrill/Jule Styne was a starring vehicle for Angela Lansbury It was in the district the same time “Follies” was at the Colonial ?’s Is it possible Miss Lansbury turned down “Follies” for this? Considering the powerhouse songwriting team have any of the songs surfaced elsehere. Anyone out here see it ? 1971 was a couple of years before I started going to shows. Any info would be appreciated, I have Facebook page Tremont and Stuart on the history of Boston Theater. Thank You in advance |
