Today - For Whom the Southern Belle Tools - Chris Durang

Can anyone help me find the post about when this hilarious take on The Glass Menagerie which I saw many years ago off-Broadway is being shown today? I tried doing a search on All That Chat, but nothing came up. But I am probably not using the search tool correctly. Thanks.

You can still see the double bill of Tennessee Williams' "Lifeboat Drill" and Christopher Duran's "For Whom The Southern Belle Tolls," but you have to telephone or email the company, Food for Thought

I was lucky enough to see the performance live today, and it was wonderful. The whole cast was great, but I'd like to give a special shout-out to Jeremy Beck as Laurence. (I assume that's how the character's name is spelled, as he's Durang's parody of Laura). Beck was terrific in two shows I saw him in at the Mint, and it was great to have him back onstage today in the first indoor performance of theater that I've seen since the beginning of the pandemic, courtesy of the Food for Thought series.

I love the play but missed this.

Your assumption is clever (not as clever as Laurance, however) but alas Chris is not as clever as you: he spelled it Lawrence.

Thanks!

I don't know if I've ever seen the spelling "Laurance" :-)

Laurance Rockefeller, if you remember him. (brother of Nelson)

ETA: father of Laura :-)

I love ''For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls.'' I believe I first saw it at the Ensemble Studio Theatre in 1994. Then it was done at MTC.

In Durang's delightfully demented parody of Tennessee Williams, a lonely young man collects glass cocktail stirrers.
