| If the money is spent, I don't think there's anything that they can do, except do exactly what the Met and the Royal Opera have already done and remove the donor's name from wherever it's been enshrined. The donation was accepted in good faith and the money spent, so I don't think there's any recourse to go after these arts organizations to return millions of dollars that they don't have. If the money is sitting in escrow somewhere or if it could be proven that the arts organization was aware that the money was dirty or was in on the scheme to defraud investors in order to get that money, it might be a different story. |
