| When it comes to Broadway cast albums and film soundtracks, the Grammys have a very spotty history. I'm pretty sure most respected theatre and film historians consider them a joke. It's obvious that for certain years, the Grammy nominators and voters had no understanding of what they were nominating or voting on. Of course, there were many years when there was one very obvious choice for best Broadway cast album or best film soundtrack -- in those particular years the Grammys gave the award to the consensus recording. |
