I saw their production of The Weir, which in spite of a strong cast was very dull. Maybe it would have been different with a more dynamic production, but I found the whole mechanics of how they tried to achieve "reality" were distracting and did a lot to drain the life out of the play.
When you see strong reading/productions like the Actor's Fund Barbecue (with only a few bells and whistles) and Boston Marriage, or productions like the Wilma's Heroes of the Fourth Turning and any of the closet productions of Theater in Quarentine, it is hard to take the distractingly fake reality of Irish Rep. |
