| First of all, 62 is the new 42 :-) Plus, as far as I'm concrned, Megan doesn't look or act like an old lady. And that's all that counts, not a person's ACTUAL age. I'm surprised you think that's so important. | |

| When Merman played Reno, she was 26. The part was not written for even a "forty-ish" woman. Patti and Sutton both played it when they were in their 30s. And it's not just that Megan is 62, but that Robert is 71, and Felicity is 74. I'm 71 myself, but I'm going to take a hell of a lot of convincing before I'll agree that these people are the right ages to be playing these parts, in this show, at this time. | |

| No, not convincing to me. Yes, I'm well aware that some other people have been wonderful in some other roles for which they were not exactly the right age. But an Anything Goes in which all three of the leads are off the mark by at least forty years does not exactly convince me to buy a ticket. | |

| Not to jump into an argument about age-appropriateness, but just to be clear, Lindsay is playing Moonface Martin, and Felicity Kendal is playing the mother of Hope Harcourt. The romantic leads (Billy and Hope) are younger performers. Also, I saw Chita Rivera as Reno in the Papermill Playhouse production, and she was close to 70 (and fabulous). |

| Thank you, jwilson, for clearing that up. I didn't read the press release attentively enough, or maybe they've clarified it since I first read it. I have always loved me some Felicity Kendal, but I just couldn't imagine her as Hope Harcourt. Right, then. Carry on, all! | |
