| As per Wikipedia (so take that for what it's worth), the play opened at the Ahmanson in 1977 with Anita Gillette playing the role of Jennie. Gillette and the entire cast of the Ahmanson run then reprised their roles on Broadway. | |

| I saw it a couple of times at the Ahmanson, and it was the same company as on Broadway. I'll have to check my programs to see if there were any inserts or indications of replacements. | |

| According to Gillette in vol 4 of Untold Stories of Broadway, someone else played the role in LA. I guess she'd know 🙂 | |

| Interesting. Neither of the two references I consulted (Theatre World and The Best Plays), indicates any cast changes between L.A. and Broadway. | |

| This NY Times profile of Simon, published just prior to the show's Broadway opening, says: "Anita Gillette came into the play as Jennie after another actress was released from the part. 'I knew it was not working out right away, and so the second day of rehearsal we were desperate. I mean we auditioned hundreds of girls, hundreds. And there are so many girls here in Los Angeles who spend so much time in television that they forget how to act.'” |
