I've seen many uncensored films in recent months on TCM including blackface, with no commentary, although they frequently play their very good short documentary on the phenomenon.
Or pretty much any WWII movie where there's no commentary on the demonization of the Japanese. That would be a much more difficult problem to address as it mixes up racism with the objectives of the Good War.
I'm not crazy about TCM's persona as objective film historians. It seems largely about preserving the value of their film library. |
