I was 13 years old when I used a "twofer" to buy a ticket for myself to see Ain't Supposed To Die a Natural Death at a Wednesday matinee. I got seated within the first few rows in the center orchestra, and was blown away. Certainly a very influential part of my true upbringing. I listened to the 2-album original cast recording a LOT. I thought it probably would be a pioneer leading to more wild experiments with the musical theater form than have developed in its wake.

Now, of course, I more clearly see how resolutely uncommercial it was in its day. Very curious how it's envisioned as potentially becoming a commercial success now. Has the Broadway theater ticket-purchasing audience really changed dramatically since 1971/1972?
