Looking Back at Contact (spoilers)

Lincoln Center Theater had another in their "looking back" series, this time on Contact. Some very interesting insights into the creation of the show. One thing that really surprised me was that the final twist at the end of the 1st act (the swing) was only added on very late in the creation process, essentially after the piece was almost complete. I agree with the creators that the final twist really elevates the piece, and I think it would have been much less interesting without that button.

One thing I thought was interesting was how they addressed each other. I knew that Susan Stroman goes by "Stro," but several people called John Weidman, "Weidman" rather than "John." And several people called Karen Ziemba "K.Z." Does Weidman go by "Weidman" typically in real life? And does Ziemba go by "K.Z."? Or were they just doing that because of calling Stroman "Stro"?
