Yes, but....going back to the 1930s, he had a rep for slowish pacing of his films. As you probably know, that's reportedly one of the main reasons why he was fired from GONE WITH THE WIND -- because someone determined that, if he kept the same pacing he established in the few scenes that he filmed, the movie would have been about five hours long, rather than 3:45 :-) So he was probably not the best choice of director for MY FAIR LADY, which is QUITE a long musical to begin with and can seem overlong if the pace is not kept up.
