| Yes, I know the Gable stories, and either or both of them may be true, or false. But I also very clearly remember reading in one of the many books on GONE WITH THE WIND that someone (I don't remember who) warned David O. Selznick that Cukor's pacing was too slow for such a lengthy script, and when the pacing of the few scenes that Cukor actually directed bore this out, that in itself was a very good reason in itself to give him the heave-ho, even though there might have been additional reasons why that happened. |
