I believe that Cukor maintained that at least some of his work remained in the film. In '73 he was part of a documentary series on PBS (in Chicago anyway), in which he talked about Gone with the Wind and even dropped some shocking details (or just hints) about Gable's notorious past. I know that Selznick stated that much of Cukor's work was re-filmed, but that at least 3 reels remained. Sam Wood directed some scenes when Fleming became physically exhausted. William Cameron Menzies actually directed the flight from Atlanta.

Cukor's episode in the PBS series is on YouTube. I'm going to check it out later today. If there is any pertinent information in it, I'll post about it. I would bet that the scene in which Rhett brings Scarlett the Paris hat is Cukor's. I believe Mickey Kuhn (the young teenage Beau Wilkes) is the only surviving cast member -- maybe he knows the truth.

That Selznick statement about 3 reels of Cukor's work is from Wikipedia. If that quote is correct, 3 reels in '39 would be around 30 minutes.
