Yes, the Tonys ruled that Bourne's ''Swan Lake'' was ineligible for Best Musical, yet it was nominated in 5 Musical categories, and won 3 of them.

Though ''Swan Lake'' wasn't a musical, Bourne won a Tony for directing & choreographing one (!) and Les Brotherston for costumes (not sets).

And while the Tonys gave out a Special Award to a Live Theatrical Production, it went to ''Fool Moon,'' not ''Swan Lake.''

Maybe you're thinking of the Drama Desks: ''Swan Lake'' won Unique Theatrical Experience (over ''De La Guarda,'' ''Ennio,'' etc.).
