Nowadays, lentil-sized incidentals are appreciated, especially in models. Mrs Strakosh was just trying to wake Fanny up to what she perceived as reality. (Cf., Coward’s « Don’t Put your daughter on the stage, Mrs Worthington. »)
And Mrs Strakosh’s analysis makes us sympathize with Fanny and cheer her on. And Mrs Brice stands up to her, besides.
