Lincoln Center Theater presented it at the Plymouth, and ''Chronicle,'' which starred Tonya Pinkins, ran for 28 previews and 37 performances.
At the 1996 Tonys, ''Rent'' and ''Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk'' battled it out for Best Musical, but the third and fourth slots went to ''Chronicle'' and ''Swinging on a Star,'' a short-lived revue.
