But where is the suicide implication anywhere in the text?
I tend to think that one of the fundamental flaws in that production was Lapine simply "trying to do a different production" but never defining what the new overall concept really was. I also feel that Sondheim's revisions were not really very effective or necessary. (Unfortunately, most of them are now offered as options in the rental version.) |
