I would love to hear what happens to the witch. In various versions.
And who is her mother? I had thought, maybe, it was mother Earth, and thus the Baker’s father’s theft of the rampion was standing in for mankind’s plunder of the planet, eg., the cutting down of the rain forest, etc. But, then, why is the witch swallowed up by her mother, mother earth? Why not mankind?
The Witch seems to be set apart from the mortals in so many ways, but then her being swallowed up becomes as merely random as the Baker’s Wife’s end?
And Rapunzel and her children...what of them? Random disappearances too?
