| Chazwaza, I agree with most of what you wrote, and all of what you wrote about Audrey. For many years, the received wisdom I heard about her performance was that she is wonderful in the scenes after Eliza's transformation and not in the scenes before, but I strongly disagree. I think she's just about perfect as the cockney Eliza in terms of her dialect, inflections, body language, and her acting. I think the only way it can be argued that she's not 100 percent convincing as the cockney flower girl is that there is a sort of aristocratic beauty about her face that comes through despite the lack of makeup and all that dirt and grime, but that has never bothered me very much. |
