Hamilton and Chicago are massive hits with great buzz. Diana has no buzz. Also- Chicago the movie and Chicago onstage are two vastly different productions. What is different in the case of Diana? Do you know of anyone who would rather pay to see it the theater than watch it on Netflix with the exact same cast? What’s interesting about a new show on a Broadway is that there is only 1 place in the world to see it with a limited amount of tickets. So I fork over money for Rocky because I’m just too curious as to how they do the fight scene or maybe I fork over money to see how the King Kong puppet works. Maybe I fork over money to see what Taymor has done with Spider Man. I don’t really want to see these shows but I’m curious and I have to pay to feed that curiosity. But if you put those shows on Netflix first, I don’t have to fork over money to see how they do it.

Btw, I think there are hundreds of thousands of people who wouldn’t have paid top prices on Broadway to see Hamilton if it had already been released on Disney + first. I’m sure of it. Remember— some people won’t like it on TV so it will kill their curiosity to see it live.
