I received my Moderna shots on January 20 and February 10, yet the Excelsior system doesn’t recognize me. So what happens now? Will I be excluded from some facilities due to a failure of their system?

I am having the same problem as you. Interestingly enough, I received the Moderna vaccine (in NYC) at approximately the same dates as you as well, and it is not showing up on the pass website. I called the number on the website and they said to file a support request online. They said there have been a number of glitches because it's a new app/website. Still waiting to hear back from them... Good luck!

I do not know your details of course but as stated the NYS database (against which your attempted registration is checked) is the only one that will work. That database is made up of providers with reporting requirements to NYS. If, for instance, you got your shot at the VA (as someone I know did), it is not in that database. I assume these anomalies will be rectified in due course. One more possible source of a problem (which I did experience) is that you have to register in the EXACT name on your vaccine card. Regarding other states, public health records are maintained on the state, not federal, level. Every time you get any vaccine or have any event requiring reporting to the state (a positive test for certain diseases. e.g.) it is reported to the state health department. There is a uniform SYSTEM (I think it is called the IIS) but each state is the repository of the data for its state. It is common for this information to be required for international travel, and it could possibly be required for domestic travel as well. (I say possibly because this could be challenged at the governmental level - there is a slightly murky "right to travel" but it could still be required by a venue, an airline, etc.)

Was it in New York State that you had the vaccine? There is currently no national vaccine database. I may be wrong but I think right now it only includes the 19 million people here. If you did have it here then you can probably use the CDC card information to find out why you are not in New York State database. I expect that soon states will join forces to combine their database to spread the usefulness of this service.

One other question: are you sure it was the Moderna you had on January 20 and February 10? That's 3 weeks apart and the Moderna--as opposed to the Pfizer--is only scheduled 4 weeks apart.
I too was able to very quickly and easily obtain the Excelsior Pass for both myself and my husband. Each time I was(pleasantly)surprised that the few choices presented for dates of our vaccinations included the correct(and different)dates.
