| Your post reminded me of a bizarre casting switch back in the day. The summer "Music Fair" circuit on the East Coast often included a mix of original stars and others in recent and not so recent musicals. I specifically recall Swen Swenson coming through as the lead in Pal Joey. (I believe Vera was played by Dorothy Lamour). What was odd was that when Little Me came through in 1964 (I can't recall if it was the same season or not), Swen Swenson's part was played by Harold Lang, who of course had played Joey in the Broadway revival. | |

| But of course Harold Lang was a superb dancer with a very good singing voice which would suit that supporting role with his one great number in "Little Me" rather than being cast as the star who plays many different types of character roles in that musical. There's a video of Lang singing and dancing to one of his numbers in "Pal Joey". I don't know if this scenario about being in the zoo was in the revival (his pick-up of the girl is traditionally in front of a pet shop window with no kids around); however, his dancing in this clip is a marvel to behold. | |

| I miss the video of Lang performing Happy Little Hunting Horn with the staging and the cast of Pal Joey. It used to be on Blue Gobo but has disappeared. | |

| In the short lived 1982 revival Don Correia performed "I've Got Your Number" as a very hot strip tease slowly revealing his furry chest under his Tony Walton designed costume... | |
