But the orchestrations are the same. Maybe a few very minor changes here and there. I think you mean that you prefer what the musical director did in some places to what Gemignani did.

Sondheim liked the production a lot, but I don't think I've ever heard or read him say anything about the cast recording or musical direction. I think he'd be unlikely to even imply anything negative about Gemignani.

I wish I knew what I was referencing, but I distinctly remember (and am referencing) something I read about Sondheim specifically loving or preferring the way the opening chords were done in London vs Broadway.
