If you're referencing Michael Hayden, I believe you mean the Tony-winning 1994 revival of ''Carousel'' that played the Vivian Beaumont.

It started at the Royal National Theatre, but Matthew Bourne wasn't involved; Nicholas Hytner directed and Sir Kenneth MacMillan choreographed.

Besides Musical Revival, it won Tonys for Hytner and MacMillan, plus Bob Crowley's scenic design and Audra McDonald as Featured Actress.

I will never forget this ''Carousel's'' amazing opening sequence, and how the carousel came together. It was truly a coup de theatre!

Still wish that the 2015 production of Carousel at the Lyric Opera in Chicago with Laura Osnes and Steven Pasquale had been recorded and/or gone to Broadway. It was really spectacular. For a taste, see the link below.

I made a special trip to Chicago to see Lyric Opera of Chicago's production of Carousel. Gorgeous! Wonderful cast and beautifully staged.

Yes, I'm bummed, too, that this revival of ''Carousel,'' with Osnes and Pasquale, didn't make it to Broadway (instead of the recent one that did).

Also notable was Goodspeed's ''Carousel'' (2012), which starred James Snyder. I bet either he or Pasquale could've won a Tony as Billy Bigelow.

Thanks for sharing that clip; I'd forgotten how detailed and spellbinding that opening was. Aside from Audra Ann McDonald's performance, and the ballet(s), this was one of the best openings ever.
