| Ambassador is one of those last to fill shubert theaters. So running a musical 52 weeks instead of most likely two flop plays for about 20 weeks a year has been a good model for the shuberts. Similarly, wicked and lion king are in nederlander theaters that are hard to fill theaters. I doubt that we have missed any show waiting for one of those. Majestic is a different story. I guess the only argument for closing long shows like these is possible of ticket sales to newer shows, but I wonder how many tourists would pick a lesser known show probably without discounts. And I think long term shows make profits for Investors to fund new shows. |
