You assume the producers want her to stay.

We don’t know what is going on behind the scenes, but you can’t assume this is completely her decision. As she stated she wanted to get ahead of the story, but this is her narrative which may not be the whole story.

The producers may not like her skipping so many performances. Maybe she asked for a huge raise because she has the tony nomination. Maybe the producers want one year contracts signed instead of just finishing out the few months left on current contracts. Maybe it is better to get a replacement now and advertise the new cast than spend money on a cast that might leave shortly after reopening.

There are a lot of maybes that we will never know about. This is her spin on the story of her leaving the show and you have to view it in that perspective.
