I'm gonna side with Chazwaza about the ages. What it meant to be 50 years old when the original movie came out (1950) is different than 2021.

I don't think ''Norma has to be 50,'' and when Close played her on Broadway, she was 70. And I don't remember anyone complaining.

Frankly, I bet lots of people don't even know how old Norma is. The important thing is that she's an older woman and Joe's a younger man.

And their dynamic is they're using each other to get what they want. And there is something timeless about that relationship and story.
