****I'll just wade into this whole thread to ask how many people OUTSIDE this site know or care who Cecil B. deMille was, let alone when he made his last film? And even that detail wouldn't really bother most of the people who want to see this film, however many there are of such people.****

Whether or not a viewer of SUNSET BOULEVARD on stage or film has any clue as to who Cecil B. deMille was, the point is that the entire story makes no sense whatsoever in terms of the history of cinema if it's not set right around 1950, and if Norma's age isn't right around 50 or maybe SLIGHTLY older.
