I was going to post a footnote of sorts to your other post to essentially say this. It's not like ONLY Rudin produces shows that started in the non-profit world or that seem like they should be non-profit shows, but I think he sometimes produces ones that it is unlikely anyone else would bring to Broadway as a commercial production. (e.g., Gary) Is it a good thing that they come in? I think the jury is out. I think a good part of the so called Broadway audience was flummoxed by Gary. I'd also mention that some of the shows (e.g., Clybourne) are more attuned to Broadway audiences. And to finish what kinda sounds like an obit of his Broadway producing life, I think he did a lot of things to prove something, both onstage and off, and I think a lot of those things are a part of the same pathology that manifested in the current situation. (And yes I think this feeds into your "prestige and power" observation in the other post.)
