Good piece, even though the story has already blasted a bit past it. I think one interesting aspect of the current situation is that we may be seeing a balance shift arising from the fact that, without the talent, there is no show. Aside from strikes of limited duration, the power has, as you say, always resided first and foremost with the landlords. But if talent adopts a zero tolerance approach to Rudin's shenanigans, Bob Wankel is not going to get on stage and pretend to be Atticus Finch. If he (Rudin, not Wankel :-) ) were to show his face at a Music Man rehearsal, or do anything else suggesting he did not mean what he said, I can see things blowing up. And that would force the hand of the producer, GM, landlord, etc. I think it will be hard to put this genie back in the bottle. Not everyone here agrees.
