Aren't we all...

But truly what producer isn't interested in prestige?

I mean I'm not sure why you feel so empowered by this... you would rather broadway be produced only by producers specifically producing to get their investors a profit? I'm sorry but I'd much rather a producer who wants prestige in art/culture/entertainment and gets the money and makes the stars align to put things on broadway that artistically should be seen even if they are risky commercial ventures, than someone only producing shows that will be clear hits, or producing them in a way that makes sure there's a profit. If the investors feel scammed by him or feel his shows are a bad investment then they should not invest if the prestige of those projects does not appeal to them. Lucky for commercial theater, prestige is a big element for investors and producers alike.
