I found the story on a Terry Gross interview with Rudin. Kermit Bloomgarden took off his artificial leg and told Rudin to get it fixed. He wouldn't give him taxi fare so Scott had to take it on a bus.
Rudin worked for a number of influential producers. I have heard that Robert Whitehead was a gentleman, Manny Azenburg always seemed to be a mensch, Hal Prince didn't appear to be a screaming tyrant, so where did he pick up this brutish behavior?
