I loved everything Steinman did. I grew up on his rock music, then discovered everything else he'd done. He was a cheeky, clever lyricist who was never afraid to stick in a double entrende to amuse himself (and whoever caught it.) And he could tear your heart out a second later. The louder and wilder he got, the more I loved it.
I always like to imagine an alternate reality where those songs were all discovered in the theater, as Steinman intended. Imagine discovering those songs as showtunes!
