Yes, I guess I meant ethnicity/cultural background. Jamie is written as culturally Jewish, although I assume he does (or used to) follow the religion as well, at least to a certain degree.

OF COURSE that's not what I meant, and frankly, it's insulting of you even to suggest that. I was just making the general point that Jamie as written is supposed to be a very specific type in terms of race, religion, cultural background, and economic status. I might have mentioned that he's also written as quite specific in terms of being a New Yorker, and there are probably additional ways in which the character is specific.
