So if the only representation of a gay character on the musical stage was a boy who kills himself because he is gay and that was ALL that was being shown, you'd be okay with that? Let's invent that musical. Let's call it SISSY. Forget Falsettos, LVC, Angels in America, Rent, none of that exists. There are 30 new Broadway shows every season and the only one with a gay character is SISSY. People like the music in SISSY but the story is of a boy who is gay who ultimately commits suicide when he realizes, in his 11 o clock number, "Being Gay Is Sad" in which he sings about how being gay is awful and if only he was straight, he life would be much better. And what if SISSY toured the world and there were no other gay characters in shows that toured. And people defend SISSY with "there are young gay people who cut themselves and hang themselves in real life. If you don't like it, don't go see it." You understand?
