|I am an earnest and sincere person (I think), but I also like to joke around a lot. I didn't really need to post that sentence in parentheses. However, when I made the comment about brown rice, I did it without thinking because I really do like brown rice. However, when I re-read it, on the one hand, it seemed like an unnecessary detail, something I might include just to suck up to ATC's very sincere and very passionate racial liberals. On the other hand, I was telling the absolute truth. Then again on another hand, it might be considered a little insensitive -- at which point I realized (like Tevye) that that's too many hands, so I added the sentence in parentheses.
Of course, on the one hand that sentence in parentheses is intended to be (hopefully) funny. However, on the other hand it may not be a good idea to joke about something so serious as race. Then again on another hand a little humor is always a good thing when trying to defuse a tense and stressful discussion -- Sorry for repeating myself. I just couldn't resist my baser instincts for low humor by getting in another joke.
I love your posts too and always read them. I like that you write a lot about actors and musicals from the golden age of Broadway, which are my favorite topics for discussion and ones which I wish would be brought up more often.
