I have to confess. I hijacked your post about Gene Nelson. I posted a comment how having white privilege did not aid him in getting better film roles after his triumph in Oklahoma! or something like that. It was a silly comment on my part. I didn't think anyone would respond to it. However, there was a lot of pushback and it morphed into a squabble over racial inequity.

If I recall correctly that was a few weeks ago. I had been sparring with some other posters about various similar issues that I felt strongly about. Unfortunately, it can be very difficult in a forum like this one to discuss such prickly topics. Regarding racial issues, I think it's better to talk about them in person face to face.

It's much more enjoyable (and less stressful) posting about old movies of Broadway musicals like My Fair Lady and West Side Story.
