The press release mentions that Jujamcyn has instituted "Rigorous Cleaning and Sanitation Protocols"
It does not mention if these protocols will be in place in front of house or backstage or both. Also, is it weird that Rigorous Cleaning and Sanitation Protocols would not have been in place before this? I mean, we all know how dirty theatres are backstage, but I would have thought that public areas of the theatres would already have been subject to such protocols.
This pandemic may actually have an upside for general hygiene and cleanliness on Broadway. That will be a great thing for audiences and, I hope, company members of shows, if these protocols are extended backstage as well. These buildings need to be cleaned and sanitized before every single performance and, on the day when the theatre is dark, undergo a deep clean that reaches even the darkest, dankest corners of the building.
