Our life experiences are different. I grew up in the 50's and 60's and fell in love with the great screwball comedies of the 30's and 40's like Hawks' Twentieth Century and His Girl Friday, Cukor's The Women, Lubitsch's To Be or Not to Be, Leisen's Midnight, and Sturges' The Lady Eve, Sullivan's Travels, The Miracle of Morgan's Creek, Unfaithfully Yours, among others. Da Costa's Auntie Mame is a rare 50's comedy that achieves the same level of hilarity as those earlier classics. Just IMO. I don't expect everyone to share all of my somewhat unconventional tastes. (Full disclosure: I enjoyed Mamma Mia! on Broadway. To quote Comden & Green, "I Said It and I'm Glad.")
