But hang on, in this instance you are 'judging' Bobby's (and Tony and Riff's) sexuality. You are stating what their sexuality is ( and calling other interpretations 'wrong')
That is not what chromolume and I are doing. I can only speak for myself, but I'm saying (again!) that the reason why I think it would be a mistake to play or imply that Tony and Riff have been in a romantic/sexual relationship is that it would needlessly and detrimentally complicate the plot of WEST SIDE STORY. Which, of course, is NOT to say that there weren't homosexual relationships among some members of NYC street gangs in the 1950s.
