Even though Bernadette Peters was an original thought to play Annie back when Martin Charnin & Co. were brainstorming back in the early '70s, it seemed like a bad idea then and an even worse idea now. I think ANNIE's great strength is its sincerity and simplicity and an adult Annie is just pointless campery (perfect for an SNL sketch, though).
Aidy Bryant looks to be in pretty good shape so I think she would be fine if someone made the mistake of casting a thirtysomething woman. (Anyway: Annie ain't Roxie Hart or Charity Hope Valentine: it's not THAT difficult to warrant an all caps warning.)
Kristin Chenoweth comes to mind for Miss Hannigan. Or Laurie Metcalf.
I doubt he'd be interested but I think Ed O'Neill would make a great Daddy Warbucks. He's got the gruff, curmudgeonly quality that Warbucks needs. Going in a more likely direction, what about Brian D'Arcy James?
